human model of the Firth of Forth
Art 5, ETSI Roads, room 26, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, March 4, 2009, at 10.00 hours.
recreate the mythical moment when Benjamin Baker uses a human model to explain the resistance pattern of the cantilever with the help of his assistant Kaichi Watanabe sitting in the middle. ( Firth of Forth Railway Bridge , John Fowler & Benjamin Baker, 1883-1890)
The device has not been as stable as the original one, beyond a few seconds. But witnesses models and smiled more today than then. Thanks to the brave volunteers.
